‘Salah’ admits he almost moved to Saudi Arabia

Mohamed Salah has admitted he came close to joining the Saudi Arabian league during his contract dispute with Liverpool earlier this season.

The Egypt winger eventually signed a new two-year deal with the Reds in April, ending a long-running transfer saga.

Salah had been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, particularly in 2023, with Al-Ittihad reportedly making a £150million bid in August, only to have Liverpool reject it.

The kingdom have also been holding talks again in the January transfer window, with the hope of signing him this summer as his contract expires.

In an exclusive interview on Sunday, Salah revealed that serious talks had taken place and that if he did not sign a new deal with Liverpool, he could have moved to the Saudi league. “At that time, I thought there might be a good chance of playing in the Saudi league. I believe that if I did not sign a new contract with Liverpool,

would have really moved,” he told On สมัครสมาชิก UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีทุกวัน Sport. And “I still have a good relationship with the people there and we still keep in touch. The negotiations are quite serious.”

He also denied previous speculation that he could move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, saying: “There was nothing.”

Salah also admitted that the love from Liverpool fans was a big reason for him to stay, adding: “The Liverpool fans played a part in me extending my contract. They put pressure on the management because I have been at the club for seven years. “

From day one, I knew the fans wanted me to stay.”

Salah has been in sensational form this season, scoring 34 goals and providing 23 assists in all competitions, including 29 in the Premier League.

His displays helped Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, win a record 20th Premier League title, levelling rivals Manchester United for the most.
